June 17, 2009: The Balanced Categories of Lewis' Thought
Azusa Pacific University, MMED5 | see map
CS Lewis once said of Christ that he was the most elusive of teachers and that trying to systemize the Lord's teaching was like trying to bottle a sunbeam. But this description might well fit Lewis' own work. Dr Jim Prothero will be exploring the consistent elusivity of CS Lewis and his underlying consistency.
The Southern California CS Lewis Society is a group of admirers of the writings of the British author CS Lewis. The society formed originally in 1974 when a group of friends who enjoyed listening to Dr Paul Ford, presently on the faculty of St John's Seminary in Camarillo, California, who was giving regular summer seminars on Lewis at St Andrew's Abbey in Valyermo, California. In addition to the summer seminar, the original members agreed to meet once a month on the third Wednesday night of each month in the 9 month academic year at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena to discuss Lewis and related writers. The great conversation still goes on and all are invited to join us.
